VidSwipe Lite is a Chrome extension that finds playable video/audio on the web page you're currently viewing and saves the file you choose to your Downloads folder.
What data we collect
VidSwipe Lite does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any user data with any server operated by us or any third party. There is no analytics, tracking, telemetry, or remote logging of any kind.
How the extension works with your data
- Media detection is entirely local. The extension inspects
network responses and page content only on the tab you have open, only to
find video/audio file URLs (e.g.
.mp4,.m3u8). This happens inside your browser and is never sent anywhere. - Temporary, per-tab storage only. The list of media found on
a tab is held in
chrome.storage.session, which Chrome automatically clears when the browser closes. Nothing is written to persistent storage, and nothing is synced to a Google account or any remote service. - Downloads stay on your device. When you click "Download," the file is saved directly from its original host (e.g. the site's own CDN) straight to your local Downloads folder via Chrome's built-in downloads API. We do not proxy, inspect, or retain a copy of anything you download.
- The only outbound connection is local and optional. If you
use the companion "VidSwipe" desktop app on the same computer, the extension
can hand a URL to it over a connection to
http://127.0.0.1:8710,127.0.0.1(localhost) only, meaning this never leaves your own machine. This is used solely to let the desktop app pick up a link you chose to send it; no other host is ever contacted by the extension itself.
Permissions
Every permission the extension requests is used only to power the features described above (finding media on the active page, showing a right-click "grab this video" option, and saving the chosen file). None of them are used to collect or transmit personal data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised and the new version published at this same URL.
